1st Vice Dean opens the Pekan Bahasa Event
The Dean of Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teaching Sciences State Islamic University Raden Fatah Palembang represented by the 1st Vice Dean Dr. Dewi Warna, M. Pd., the head of Language Lab. Eka Sartika, M. Pd., the heads of Laboratories of FITK, Public Relation of FITK, members of committee, students of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang, and all the 72 participants from each branch of the competition.
The first welcoming remark given by the chairman of the committee by purposing his gratitude to the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teaching Sciences that facilitated the event, and most of all his highest appreciation to the dean who represented by the 1st vice dean and all the respective invited guests of the event. Pekan Bahasa is an annual English proficiency event held by the language laboratory of FITK UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. There are 5 main competitions namely English Speech competition for high school participated by 5 participants, Arabic Speech competition participated by 9 participants, Newscaster with Bahasa Palembang participated by 5 participants, Newscaster with Bahasa Indonesia participated by 20 participants and English speech competition for Varsity level participated by 33 participants.
The next opening remark delivered by the head of Language Laboratory of FITK UIN Raden Fatah Palembang, Eka Sartika, M. Pd., in her speech she expressed her deepest gratitude to the dean represented by the 1st vice dean, the heads of the laboratories of FITK, lecturers of FITK, all the judges from PGRI University, IGM University, and UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. She very thankful to the chairman, Aji Tamara Putra, for working very hard, smart and sincere throughout the preparation of the event. Her gratitude also proposed to all the sponsors for supporting the event, they are Radio Fatwa UIN Raden Fatah Palembang, English Library from Yayasan Harapan Rakyat, Victory Sriwijaya Education, Momea FM, Magenta Language Academy, Fortrust Education Service, and TVRI Palembang. She also expressed her warm welcome to all the participant and wish them the best of luck for the competition.
The last remark was delivered by the 1st vice dean, Dr, Dewi Warna, M. Pd., she apologized for the dean from not being able to come to the opening ceremony since he had to be out of town at the moment. She happily welcomed all the judges and participants from various schools and universities for enrolling in the event. It is a great opportunities for all the students to improve their interest in foreign languages. Ibu Dewi added that it is a great moment for them to express the speaking and writing competence as a medium to practice their English with their teachers and friends. This event is a medium to promote UIN Raden Fatah to the community in order to attract people to join the university. Beside that it is great moment for to connect the relationship or silaturahmi among schools and institutions in Palembang. This annual event wished to tighten the collaboration and connection among schools and universities. Moreover, she continued, this kind of activity is important to support the 3rd standard of accreditation and to prepare the Diploma Supplement accompanies a higher education certificate or Surat Keterangan Pendamping Ijazah (SKPI) for the university student.
The opening ceremony was ended by taking a group pictures together and preparing to the next agenda, which is the competition.
