Attending the International Conference in Dubai-United Arab Emirates, UIN Raden Fatah Achieves UIGMWUR Continuous Campus Ranking in 2023
State Islamic University (UIN) Raden Fatah Palembang attended the ceremony and received the awarding of the global level UI GreenMetric World University Rankings which was held on December 5, 2022 in Dubai – United Arab Emirates. The activity was held in conjunction with the International Conference on Advancing Sustainable Future (ICASF 2023) entitled “Sustainable Future and Technologies”. ICASF 2023 will take place on December 5-6, 2023 at Abu Dhabi University, at the Waldorf Astoria, Dubai Palm Jumeirah. The delegation of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang was attended by Prof. Dr. Nyayu Khodijah, M.Si. (Rector), Prof. Dr. Risan Rusli, M.A. (Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought), Dr. Syahril Jamil, M.Ag. (Head of the Quality Assurance Institute), Dr. Ledis Heru Saryono Putro, M.Si. (Head of the Eco-green Campus team).
Previously, UIN Raden Fatah Palembang had received the UI GreenMetrics (UIGM) Indonesia award which was announced on Thursday (30/11), at Unhas Hotel & Convention, Makassar. In this 2023 announcement and award, UIN Raden Fatah Palembang received the award “The 2023 Most Active University in UI GreenMetric World University Rankings Network-Indonesia”. This proves the active-massive silver of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang in realizing sustainable campus performance. A similar award has also been received by UIN Raden Fatah Palembang in 2022, namely “The 2022 Most Sustainable Improved University in Indonesia”. Awards for two consecutive years are both encouragement and challenges in the future. The acquisition of the UIGM World University Rankings (WUR) award is proof of the commitment and real work of the leadership and the entire academic community of Raden Fatah State Islamic University Palembang.

The international ranking of green and sustainable campuses UI GreenMetric World University Ranking (UIGMWUR) in which UIN Raden Fatah Palembang follows, has 6 categories (principles) and 52 criteria. These principles include: (1) structuring and infrastructure, (2) energy and climate, (3) waste/waste, (4) water, (5) green transportation and (6) education and research. Some of the 2023 achievements include aspects of structuring and infrastructure (SI), aspects of energy and climate (EC), activities in aspects of waste (WS), activities in utilizing organic matter for eco-enzyme (EE), aspects of water management (WR), aspects of green transportation, aspects of education and research (ED) and others.
Rector of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang Prof. Nyayu Khodijah, S.Ag., M.Si, expressed his gratitude and gave the highest appreciation and congratulated this achievement for UIN Raden Fatah Palembang along with all campus elements and especially to the Eco-green campus team who have made maximum efforts so as to obtain achievements as they are today. “This is a proud achievement because UIN Raden Fatah has strived to realize a green campus, energy independent, water-efficient, and able to reduce and manage waste better,” said the Rector.
Along with this activity at ICASF 2023, the delegation of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang also presented a paper which is an implementation on aspects of water resources management and swampland conservation, entitled “Implementation of SDGs on Water Resources and Climate Action: Sustainable Water and Wastewater Management Based on Swampland Adaptation at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang”. The presentation was made directly by Dr. Ledis Heru S. Putro, M.Si as the leader of the Eco-green Campus team at the parallel session and Metropolitan room – Waldorf Astoria, Dubai Palm Jumeirah. According to Ledis, the increase in national and global rankings and scores is certainly inseparable from massive and significant concrete actions by all elements of the academic community and the full support and encouragement of university leaders. Proof of performance through this score is proof of the results of hard work in 2023 in the implementation and realization of a green and sustainable campus at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang.
“This is both a pride and a challenge in realizing the achievement of a quality campus that is green and sustainable in the future and realizing a Global-Islamic-and Sustainable University,” he concluded. (LHSP)
