Faculty of Ushuluddin UIN Raden Fatah Palembang Holds International Student Conference

Faculty of Ushuluddin State Islamic University (UIN) Raden Fatah Palembang held The 2nd Ushuluddin International Student Conference (UInSCof) with the theme “The Dynamic of Student Religiosity in a Context of Socio Cultural Academia” in a hybrid manner, namely online through zoom meetings and offline at the Faculty of Ushuluddin UIN Raden Fatah Palembang,  Wednesday (25/10/2023). UInSCof 2023 invited speakers from various countries, including Prof. Dr. Mikdar Rusdi from Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seru Begawan Brunei, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Husna binti Husain from Sultan Idris University of Education, Perak, Malaysia, Muhammad Hasanuddin Arifin from Zuhri Institute of Higher Learning Singapore, and Prof. Ismatu Ropi, PhD as Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin UIN Syarif Hidayatullah.

This International Conference also presented the Rector of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang Prof. Dr. Nyayu Khodijah, S.Ag., M.Si as Keynote Speaker represented by Vice Rector 1 Dr. Muhammad Adil, M. A, internal speakers from the Faculty of Ushuluddin UIN Raden Fatah Palembang Dr. Kusnadi and Dr. Halimatussa’diyah. This international conference was attended by researchers and participants from universities in Indonesia and outside Indonesia. This international seminar was attended by academics, culturalists, educators and other community leaders. According to Vice Rector 1 UIN Raden Fatah, Dr. Muhammad Adil said that this international conference has high academic value, so that it can add value to the expertise, science, expertise and professionalism of participants.

“This International Conference is a proud activity, because this activity provides evidence of the achievements of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought UIN Raden Fatah Palembang in the academic arena that will encourage confidence in developing its potential,” said Vice Rector I Dr. Muhammad Adil, M.A. Vice Rector I also said that the theme of this international conference was very interesting to discuss related to important aspects of understanding,  Religious practices and experiences among students in academic contexts influenced by social and cultural factors. “This International Conference is a proud activity, because this activity provides evidence of the achievements of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought UIN Raden Fatah Palembang in the academic arena that will encourage confidence in developing its potential,” said Vice Rector I Dr. Muhammad Adil, M.A. Vice Rector I also said that the theme of this international conference was very interesting to discuss related to important aspects of understanding,  Religious practices and experiences among students in academic contexts influenced by social and cultural factors.

“Education and religious development in the context of universities is very interesting to discuss. Religious education in higher education is not only about understanding religious teachings, but also how religion affects individual thinking, behavior, and interaction amidst social and cultural diversity,” he said. Furthermore, Vice Rector I also said that to measure religiosity, it consists of 4 dimensions, namely the dimensions of believing, bonding, behaving and belonging. “The believing dimension refers to the cognitive aspects of religion, namely individual beliefs related to religious understanding, the bonding dimension refers to emotional aspects, the behaving dimension refers to the moral aspects of religion, and belonging refers to the social aspects of religion,” explained Vice Rector I. Dr. Muhammad Adil also stated that the theme in this international conference reflects awareness of the importance of religion as an identity,  Good religious values can influence good behavior.

Meanwhile, Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought Prof. Dr. Ris’an Rusli, MA. said that international conferences are very important for international accreditation, especially the vision of UIN Raden Fatah itself to become an international standard university. “This conference reflects the important role played by the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought (Fushpi) in connecting religious understanding and academic context,” said Prof. Ris’an. Furthermore, Prof. Ris’an explained that this activity is a continuation of the first UInScof conference, this conference is expected to provide deeper insight and a better understanding of the challenges faced by students in academic and religious contexts.

“The 2nd UInSCof will be an important forum for students, lecturers and thinkers interested in religious studies and religious education to share knowledge and experience in dealing with religious dynamics, in an era influenced by various social and cultural factors,” he said. In this activity, the inauguration of the Atlas Journal from the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought UIN Raden Fatah Palembang was also held.
