
UIN Rector Raden Fatah Attends Asian-African and Latin American Religious Moderation Conference (KMB-AAA)
Rector of State Islamic University (UIN) Raden Fatah Palembang, Prof. Dr. Nyayu Khodijah, S.Ag., M.Si attended The Asia-Africa and Latin America Conference on Religious Moderation. This activity was organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia together with the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) at Gedung Merdeka (the venue of the 1965 Asian-African Conference) and the Savoy Homann Hotel, Bandung on December 20-22, 2023. KMB-AAA which carries the theme Religion for Humanity is intended as an effort to strengthen Religious Moderation globally and overcome conflicts that hit several countries. As well as being a strategic and impactful forum for leaders of countries in Asia-Africa and Latin America to unite to voice, and seek to strengthen the role of the United Nations in creating lasting peace for the whole world.
The event was officially opened by Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, who in this case was represented by Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs (Wamenag) Saiful Rahmat Dasuki, Wednesday (20/12/23) at Gedung Merdeka. “KMBAAA is a strategic forum for internationalization of religious moderation in the Asia, Africa and Latin America regions. This is one of the implementations of Presidential Regulation No. 58 of 2023 concerning Strengthening Religious Moderation,” said the Vice Minister. The Vice Minister also invited the delegates present at KMBAAA to participate in strengthening religious moderation as a global solution in efforts for world peace. “I hope religious moderation becomes a movement of global insight to overcome conflicts that still occur,” he hoped. In this regard, UIN Rector Raden Fatah Palembang fully supports the activities of the Asian-African and Latin American Religious Moderation Conference and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity given to attend this KMBAAA activity.
“UIN Raden Fatah strongly supports KMBAAA which is an effort of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in strengthening religious moderation. UIN Raden Fatah also continues to be committed to becoming a university that focuses on strengthening religious moderation that can spread the right understanding,” concluded the Rector. Also present at the opening of KMBAAA were Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, Head of the Research Agency for Education and Training Development of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kabalitbang Kemenag) Suyitno, State Ambassadors and representatives and officials within the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag).
