UIN Raden Fatah Palembang Attends International Meeting in Makkah

Raden Fatah State Islamic University (UIN) Palembang was selected as one of 70 participants from all universities in Indonesia to attend the meeting in Makkah, Friday (21/6/24).

In this meeting, UIN Raden Fatah Palembang was represented by two academics, namely Dr. Syahril Jamil and Yen Fikri Rani, M.Ag.

Dr. Badruz Zaman as the Jeddah Educational and Cultural Attaché said that the main aim of this meeting was an effort to strengthen cooperative relations between universities and foreign schools.

“This visit and meeting is closely related to educational progress, several universities have visited and strengthened educational relations between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia,” he said.

Dr. Badruz also said that this cannot be separated from the role of Indonesian ulama who have paved the way to strengthen intellectual relations between Arabs and Indonesia. Apart from that, Dr. Badruz also explained that Saudi provided 500 scholarships for Indonesian students.

“In an effort to strengthen relations and advance education in Indonesia, Saudi Arabia provides scholarship opportunities by providing 500 scholarships from S1 to S3 for Indonesian students. “There are many Study Programs (Prodi) that can be taken, including in the field of science,” he said.

Dr. Badruz also said that there are 22 state campuses that can collaborate in exchange programs between students, the Indonesian Consulate General is also ready to carry out follow-up activities online via zoom meetings.

“Three Saudi Arabian universities are included in the 500 World University Rankings (WUR). Campuses in Saudi Arabia also require Community Service (PkM) for their lecturers, and this is an opportunity that is ready to be facilitated by the Educational and Cultural Attaché. “PKM can also take the form of international KKN and international KKL,” he explained.

Dr. Badruz also explained that in the PkM there are 29 state campuses and 31 private universities (PTS) as well as institutions that can collaborate.

Meanwhile, Sutikno, Principal of Madrasah (Kamad) from the Jeddah Indonesian School (SIJ) also said that SIJ was ready to accept PkM, including on the occasion of the Hajj.

“The Indonesian Consul General (Consul General) makes collaboration easier, with 60% of participants being undocumented children, so it is hoped that there will be scholarships,” he said.

Kamad SIJ also explained that SIJ provides matriculation classes for children up to the age of 17 who have not yet gone to school and there are also schools like madrasas called Baitul Qur’an.

Furthermore, Sutikno said that KKN and MBKM can be done at SIJ, and you can also do KKN and do internships at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) and the Hajj Affairs Office (KUH) in Jeddah.

Also present at this meeting was the Head of the Makkah Indonesian School (SIM), who also said that SIM students were PMI children. SIM also provides the lowest scholarships for alumni, as well as providing scholarship programs for teachers.

On the same occasion, Syahril Jamil as representative of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang said that this meeting was an important event for participants to exchange ideas and experiences, as well as strengthen international cooperation networks in the fields of education and research. The presence of UIN Raden Fatah at this event shows recognition of the university’s contribution and achievements in the development of Islamic science and education in Indonesia.

“This is a valuable moment for us to learn and collaborate with colleagues from various countries. “We hope to bring home valuable knowledge and experience that can be applied for the progress of UIN Raden Fatah,” he said.

Yen Fikri Rani also added that participation in this meeting opened up great opportunities for the development of research and academic programs at UIN Raden Fatah and was also committed to making the best use of this opportunity for the advancement of universities and education in Indonesia. “It is hoped that this meeting will produce various initiatives and collaborations that can support the development of higher education in Indonesia. UIN Raden Fatah Palembang is ready to contribute to these efforts and bring Indonesia’s good name to the international arena and support the development of higher education in Indonesia. “UIN Raden Fatah’s presence at this meeting reflects the university’s commitment to strengthening international relations and advancing Islamic education in the country,” he concluded.
