Receiving the Visit of the Malaysian Consul General, UIN Chancellor Raden Fatah is Ready to Collaborate
Public Relations – UINRF — Leaders of the Academic Community of the State Islamic University (UIN) Raden Fatah Palembang received a visit from the Consul General of Malaysia in Medan Shahril Nizam bin Abdul Malek, at the Jakabaring Campus Rectorate of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang, Monday (1/7/24).
UIN Chancellor Raden Fatah, Prof. Dr. Nyayu Khodijah, S.Ag., M.Si said that UIN Raden Fatah Palembang has collaborated with many universities in Malayasia. The collaboration between UIN Raden Fatah and universities in Malaysia is carried out continuously and sustainably.
“UIN Raden Fatah has collaborated with many universities in Malaysia, including Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). “The collaboration carried out includes research, guest lectures, guest lecturers, international KKN and others,” said the Chancellor.
The Chancellor also said that UIN Raden Fatah was ready to collaborate to improve the quality and quality of education. UIN Raden Fatah is also always open to providing opportunities for students from Malaysia to continue their education at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang.
“At UIN Raden Fatah Palembang, there are currently 45 Malaysian students. “Of the 45 students, only 10 students received Malaysian zakat scholarships and the other 35 received financing from UIN Raden Fatah Palembang and financial assistance from the Ministry of Religion,” he explained.
Furthermore, the Chancellor also said that apart from Malaysia, UIN Raden Fatah had also accepted students from various countries, including Sudan, Thailand and Cambodia.
“UIN Raden Fatah has accepted students from various countries, and has also carried out many collaborations with various countries. “This is an effort made by UIN Raden Fatah to improve the quality and quality of education. After achieving the national excellence target, UIN Raden Fatah plans to be superior in Southeast Asia in the future,” he said.
The Chancellor also hopes that with the visit of the Malaysian Consul General to UIN Raden Fatah Palembang, in the future the commitment to cooperation between UIN Raden Fatah and Malaysian universities and the Malaysian government will increase.
“With this visit, in the future the commitment to cooperation between UIN Raden Fatah and Malaysia will increase. “We also hope that in the future we can organize activities that can increase lecturers’ recognition, namely collaboration in the form of research, guest lectures or guest lecturers,” hoped the Chancellor.
Apart from that, the Chancellor also hopes that in the future the lecturers and alumni of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang can continue their Masters and Doctoral studies with scholarships or funding from the Malaysian government.
Meanwhile, Consul General of Malaysia Shahril Nizam bin Abdul Malek introduced himself who had just served in Medan City. Shahril Nizam hopes that cooperation between the Malaysian Consulate General in Medan and UIN Raden Fatah Palembang can continue to be improved.
“Malaysia and Indonesia have very close relations, both in culture and in the academic field. “At the same time, Indonesia and Malaysia should be united to be able to work together to produce meaningful things both culturally and academically,” he said.
In that conversation, Shahril Nizam bin Abdul Malek also spoke about scholarships or educational funding provided by the Malaysian kingdom . “Every year the Kingdom of Malaysia prepares two scholarship programs, namely, the Malaysia International Scholarship which consists of a master’s (S2) and a doctorate (S3), and also the Malaysia Technical Program Scholarship,” he concluded.
